Gardens of the Artist

Author’s Parks Maremma is a land of Etruscans and villages with medieval flavors, it has inspired poets and artists from all over the world. More or less majestic works are hidden in large museums and small private gardens that tell just as many stories full of unprecedented emotions. If the famous Tarot Garden, located a few kilometers from Capalbio in the municipality of Grosseto a few kilometers from the border with Lazio, is undoubtedly the largest and most famous monumental garden in the area, only enthusiasts know the other small jewels of post-modern art located in the hinterland of the Tuscan Maremma. The Garden of Sounds by Paul Fuchs is only an hour’s drive from Grosseto to Boccheggiano which can be visited by reservation only. A small museum park created by the artist in his private residence and which leads visitors to discover his mystical works. This garden is something one of a kind that best expresses the charm and inspiration of Fauchs. Each work is created and studied and positioned according to how the wind can blow so as to create amazing sound harmonies. Created with a completely different but equally wonderful and fascinating spirit is the Garden of Daniel Spoerri which, on the other hand, is located in Seggiano on one of the gentle hills that slope down from the nearby Monte Amiata. A path also defined by the “Inganni dell’Arte” in which the Romanian-born artist wanted to stage a sort of dualism between what he loves about and his most visceral fears. The Gardens of Daniel Spoerri is an unparalleled masterpiece of modern art. Last, but not least, a beautiful author park to mention is Rodolfo Lacquaniti’s Return Journey. This garden is a global project of artistic expression that associates heterogeneous creative experiences with the aim of soliciting human morality towards an awareness of one’s vital and primordial natural life. Journey back is an experience at the limit of the supernatural that develops inside the Podere il Leccio farmhouse in the locality of Buriano in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia.
