Sunset Cala Violina bay beach in Maremma, Tuscany. Travel destination in Mediterranean sea. Italy, Europe. Long Exposure.

Cala Violina

Cala Violina: the hidden paradise of the Maremma Considered probably the most beautiful and famous beach in the entire Maremma area, Cala Violina is, thanks to its clear sand and its crystalline sea dominated by wild and unspoiled nature, the most significant and spectacular seaside place in the entire province of Grosseto. The spectacular beach of Cala Violina is located between Follonica and Punta Ala and immersed in the greenery of the Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve. Cala Violina is a magical place so beautiful and unusual that it seems to be straight out of a movie. Equipped with a unique charm given above all by the particular natural environment that surrounds it, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the whole province. Cala Violina has this name by virtue of a characteristic that makes it very unique and different from any other beach. Unlike other seaside resorts, the Cala Violina beach is very grainy and made up of very small pieces of quartz. Walking on it you will notice that the rubbing of the palm of the feet with the earth produces a very particular sound reminiscent of a violin string, which is why the beach bears this particular name. Like any self-respecting paradise, reaching it is not easy. Once the car has been parked, the beach can be reached either by bicycle or on foot through a long and winding path about 1.5 km long, completely immersed in the pine forest. In summer there is also the possibility of reaching Cala Violina beach by bus that goes from Follonica station to Castiglione della Pescaia, and stops about 2.5 km from the beach. Being immersed in a natural reserve, the beach of Cala Violina is devoid of any type of commercial activity. So our advice is to equip yourself with everything you need to enjoy this spectacular trip to the sea, always reminding you that this place thrives on the kindness of man and that it is necessary to be respectful of its environment to preserve it as nature has it donated.

The sea, the beach and the path are very nice and clean, and to reach it you have to walk. 1,5 km walk between acorns and cork trees. Feel the scent of the forest, listen to the noises and songs of cuckoos waiting to suddenly emerge on a breathtaking landscape ... I recommend reaching it towards sunset to enjoy the show at its fullest
